Shoots

So, big news has been brewing in the Penick family lately! It really never went "Facebook official" so I decided that now was the perfect time to make an all in one announcement. My sister and brother-in-law are expecting their first baby this November! And it is a boy! I am super, over the moon, excited to be an aunt again and I can hardly wait until November to meet this little guy. Since this baby factory is permanently closed for business, I have been getting my baby fixes from all of our newborn sessions here at the studio. A new little nephew to love on is right up my alley!

We actually did a maternity session/gender reveal/pregnancy announcement photo session while on our family vacation last week in the Outer Banks, NC. Kristy and Will were married  right along this stretch of beach five and a half years ago so, it was pretty cool to capture this next milestone of their lives right here as well. Here are a few images from their session:

So, for those of you who know me well, know I love my BUG!  Over the years she has become quite the beautiful dancer. I have been in awe of the dedication, determination, and perfection she has put into her art.   So in the midst of the busy recital season, we decided to take some time out to capture some of her favorite moves AT SUNSET!! And it was SENSATIONAL. There is something about the sunset in general that is so romantic, EVERYONE should be photographed in it.  The glowy-ness (I may have made that word up,lol)  that floods through the back of the trees is magical! For us photographers, it is called the GOLDEN HOUR, and it is sooooo incredible to shoot at this time of day!

Let me know what you all think!

And to kick off one of our summer specials, here is a sneak peek of what is in store for you all, but the blog readers are getting to see it first!! sunset mini sessions

What an exciting Daddy and Me day I had with some of my favorite people! This family is such a blessing to me! Angela and Matt have been with Tiptoe since the beginning. We have shot their engagement, wedding, maternity, newborns, 1st birthdays, family,  christmas cards, and dedications.   I really can't explain what they mean to me! I love their babies just as my own, and I love love love watching them grow.  (and just look at these little faces, seriously how could you not love them)  I love this family and love that they continue to use us as they add to their adorable family!  Enjoy your teasers!! And Matt we hope you have an awesome Father's Day!

Everyone knows that I'm a huuuuge animal lover.

Photography may be half my life, but the other half is, undoubtedly, animals.

I mean... I work at PETCO. I'm a PET sitter for half my neighborhood. I'm a PET mommy. I'm a college student currently gearing up for vet school so I can take care of PETS!! My life pretty much revolves around animals!!

So it's only natural that I combine my two most favorite things in the world into one! Introducing Mini Sessions for you AND your furry/feathered/scaly friends! ALL animals welcome!

So we had such an awesome time last weekend shooting Mommies and their kids!! They all had a chance to get pampered Tiptoe style by our awesome hair (Lisa from Hair Cuttery) and makeup (Tayna) ladies!! They rocked our moms socks off, and made each lady so super beautiful!! Seriously could recommend these ladies to anyone. They are fabulous!! And we topped off the pampering with some fresh snacks and mimosas!! Yummo! It was an awesome time! Now in honor of Mother's Day, we wanted to show some of those moms their Tiptoe Teaser.

Tiptoe wants to wish ALL the mommas out there a super wonderful Mother's Day! Take the day off and enjoy those that made you a mommy!! Wink, wink!

So I had the privilege this evening to photograph my nieces SENIOR PROM! Wow, y'all this is it for her! She's done with high school. It's so bittersweet.  Since we have moved out to the Mercer Compound, it has been so incredibly wonderful to have her right here as our neighbor, our babysitter, our "race car driver". She has turned into such a woman, an adult, and a mature lady! I love her, and I am sure going to miss her being around when she's gone at college next year! Cheers Sophia, you are off to BIG things!!

Here are a couple of my favorite photos from a newborn session I recently did! OH MY WORD, do these parents make some beautiful babies!! Stinking gorgeous!! Gahh!

One of my favorite parts of this shoot had to have been dad being so involved in the ideas for props and backdrops for our newborn! It sure does make it personal when we can incorporate it into a shoot! He is an avid hunter, and was actually away on a hunt and made it back just in time to be there for her to be born!! I loved hearing their/and every clients unique story of the birth! It takes me back to my own kids births, oh how your whole world changes! And you can never love anything more than that perfect little baby you created! 🙂

Soooo... I personally have had several of my mom friends call me, right after they got their proofs back from the school, to say thank you for doing their kid's school photo this year.  Which was awesome because they really appreciate what we at Tiptoe do!! We are PHOTOGRAPHERS, we don't do backdrops where everyone will have the same photo year after year, we don't just make the kids stand there and snap a pic not caring what they looked like, we take time to see that real smile and make sure we capture it, in every student! We don't just want "persons" in our photos, we want "personality".  Whether you come to us for a 5 minute school session or an hour long regular photography session, we put our all into capturing YOU each and every time.

So all of this really got me thinking... I can't ever say that I "get" their displeasure because we have been lucky enough to be the photographers for several preschools in the area.  I have been there  to take my own child's school pictures since she started school! Woo hoo! However this year she started kindergarten (unfortunately Tiptoe cannot compete with the incentives of the company that our county uses for portraits) and I knew that I wouldn't be the one to take her portrait, which sort of birthed the idea of opening up Tiptoe School Portrait day for any kids who may not want that typical school portrait.  This school year we held a fall and spring session, and it went fabulously!! We had so, so many kids come out and take advantage of the Tiptoe school pricing which is comparable to the pricing you pay for the portraits offered through the school.  Tiptoe school portraits are really such a great idea. Let's be honest, these "school" photos are the ones you use most to chart their growth and see all their changes, and honestly these are the ones that you end up keeping FOREVER.  Heaven knows I still have all of mine downstairs!  So why not make them fabulous? Let these precious photos show off your child's personality and real smile!

"Just a thought, not a sermon!"

I remember people telling me right after I had Maximus to enjoy every second because they grow up fast.  Boy is that so true.  I still can't believe he is 4 and my Maverick will be 2 in a little over a week.  I just want to freeze time and what better way to do that than to do what I do best.  Capture it.   So instead of the usual iphone photos I usually take, I got out my big camera and decided to just capture them doing what they do.  Maverick, reading his book in the rocking chair that was his brothers.  The same chair that I nursed both of my boys in and rocked to sleep every night.  Maverick getting his hair out of his face and sucking his paci, those little chubby fingers and long eyelashes, him cuddling his "baby" (glow seahorse), Maximus playing with his ninja turtle toys, him standing on the stool getting a snack, his toes that will never be that little again, and that  mole on the side of his foot.  I don't ever want to forget these little things, because they mean so much to me.  If anyone is interested in a "lifestyle" session where we capture your kiddos or your family at home give us a call.
