Raise your hand if you knew that Tiptoe Studios offers school portraits...

Okay, so I know that the weather has been super nice for approximately 2 days and there is still a TON of snow on the ground but I can feel spring coming!

Can't you?!!

Right about this time every year, people start to emerge from their houses, say hi to the neighbors they haven't seen in months (due to the 5 second dashing from the house to the car and back again because it is just too darn cold to socialize!) and start spending more time in the great outdoors. At Tiptoe Studios, we start getting pretty excited right around this time, too. It is no easy task to coax people out of their warm homes in January and February to go outside and take pictures! So, now we get to shake the dust off of our cameras and get to work and we couldn't be happier!

Now, amid the frenzy of booking weddings, family sessions, spring sessions and newborn sessions, we have a completely different (and, perhaps little known) specialty...school portraits! Four years ago, we started out with one local preschool. Every year, we add to the Tiptoe preschool family, little by little and now we service 5 different preschools and are always looking for new clients!

Our approach to school portraits is the same as our approach to any Tiptoe photo session...personalized and perfectly edited! We offer the boutique look for fabulous discounted school pricing! Our preschool portraits have been so popular, that we have started offering our own, studio-hosted Tiptoe school portrait day where parents can bring their student of any age to have their custom school portrait done. Our next one is April 25th so call or email us now to book a slot if interested!

Know a preschool who would love to jump on the band wagon? Just give us a holler and we will be happy to send out some information on how you can have the signature Tiptoe look at your school!

In the meantime, just take a gander at some of the gorgeous kids we have had the pleasure of "shooting"...

Wow y'all! We have so many things that we are working on in March!! And we are so excited to share it with you!

1. Frozen special- We had so many princesses join us at Halloween, we thought we would do another session to go with the Frozen theme! March 15th is the day! If you have a princess that loves loves loves Frozen then bring her out for our mini session.

2. Photography Classes- We have been working so hard on this for quite some time, and we are over the moon to announce our first class in this 3 part series, Know thy Camera. We will be going over the most important buttons on your DSLR's to get a Tiptoe quality portrait! We want to teach you aperture, shutter speed and ISO and how they all go together to take an image. We don't want this to be your average college course where all we do is read from a text book to you, we want to get in there with you and work through how to do it step by step! So join us on March 29th and be ready to never use that auto button on your camera ever again!  We are requiring that you have a DSLR camera and questions for us! Book now for a 10% discount, and hurry as we are limiting the number of the spots available, so we have plenty of 1 on 1 time with each of you!

3.  Spring Mini Sessions- Our very, very popular mini sessions! $100 for 3 copyright images, that is a savings of $200! I mean who wouldn't be excited about that! Book today for April 4th!

4. Tiptoe School Portrait sessions- We did these in the fall for the first time and they were an overwhelming hit! We know portrait day at school is coming soon and we know tons and tons of moms are never pleased with the same old school photos! This is your opportunity to join us on April 25th for a school portrait like no other and at the same price! What a deal! Before I start,  I do not write so please no judging! lol

So this isn't anything photography related just some real life struggles of a mommy needing some advice.  Maximus just turned 4 in January and ever since he was a newborn we have been doing the "co-sleeping"  thing.  Yes I know some of you are shaking your head, but we were first time parents, extremely tired because he wouldn't sleep through the night (still doesn't),  I was nursing and it just worked for us.  (Thankfully I learned my lesson with Maverick, he sleeps in his own bed and through the night).  I haven't tried putting him in his room in an extremely long time.  The ONE time we attempted the "crying out method" when he was little, he got so upset, fell and hit his head in his crib and I swore I would NEVER do that again! Talk about feeling like the worst mommy ever :'(.

Lately, I've just been getting fed up and saying tonight is the night he is sleeping in his bed.  We go through our nightly routine of taking a bath, putting  jammies on, getting a snack, and letting him pick a book to read, then I so nicely say "Okay, buddy its time to go night night in your bed" Oh my goodness its like ripping his heart out.  He takes off running into our room, screaming and crying, wants daddy because he usually gives in to him, and me after minutes of becoming EXTREMELY frustrated I just think to myself "if he wakes up Maverick I'm going to be mad" and of course a few choice words in there...I know bad mommy!  As always, I give in and let him sleep with us.  It's such an awful cycle that we have been going through and I literally can't take it.

I know consistency is key, but having him screaming and crying is torture and I WILL not do that to him, or us,  plus I have another little guy who is sleeping and don't want to wake him.  Bribing isn't an option as this kid has enough toys, we did his room in ninja turtles, he has a night light, and we even leave the bathroom light on for him.  We check for monsters, and give lots of hugs and kisses.  Nothing seems to work, NOTHING!  Did I miss my window of trying to get him to sleep in his bed?  At this point do I continue to just try every night, in hopes of one night he will just fall asleep on his own in his room or let him sleep with us until he's 25? lol  HELP! I want my bed back!
